The foundation Eurict was created in 1999 as an initiative between German and Dutch educational personnel.

Objectives are:

- The design and implementation of joint educational projects between educational institutions within the European Union;

- The exchange of knowledge and information between students within the European Union through information and communication technology;

- To promote contact between young people (children / young adults) within the European Union.

In 1999 it showed that information technology in schools was not yet widely implemented, so when setting up projects the needed infrastructure to realize these projects was lacking. Several successful exchanges were organized between educational personnel in Germany and the Netherlands between 1999 and 2006.

In May 2008, WikiSchola became a Eurict activity. An editorial team of German and Dutch educational personnel wrote texts on educational topics. These are bilingual, both in German and Dutch, displayed on the internet the same way as Wikipedia. In practice almost exclusively articles on Dutch educational themes were published on both the Dutch and German Wikis. In June 2011, it was decided to leave the topics on WikiSchola, but to stop attempting to get new ones added.

In June 2011, it was also decided to set up WikiGreen with practical tips on environmentally conscious use of daily products and services. In the autumn of 2011 contact was established there with a group of schools in Poland, Czech Republic, Germany and the Netherlands via a German teacher in Barendrecht.
